Design, Finance, Construction, Operation, and Maintenance including Post-Closure Maintenance of, A Common Hazardous Waste treatment, Storage And Disposal Facility (CHWTSDF), At Kochi, Kerala

UPL- EEL & BEIL along with its parent company United Phosphorus Limited have formed SPV viz., Kerala Enviro infrastructure Ltd., for the execution of the SWM project in the southern region of the India.

The project is awarded by Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC), A ‘Nodal Agency’ for the development of Common Hazardous Waste Treatment, Storage and Disposal Facility at Ambalamugal, Kochi, Kerala. Government of Kerala has appointed Bharuch Enviro Infrastructure Limited for design, finance, construction, operation & maintenance including the post closure maintenance of A Common Hazardous Waste Treatment, Storage and Disposal facility at (CHWTSDF) at Kochi with a capacity of approx 10,00,000 MT for 20 years using Double liner system.

Total site area at Ambalamugal is admeasuring approximately 50 acres located 15 kms away from the city. The hazardous wastes from 182 companies from different districts are taken out into the landfill site. From this, Ernakulam and Kollam are the major districts of hazardous waste generation cities.

Major construction, development & operation activities consist of Establishment of the facility, including storage shed for hazardous wastes, receiving and transportation of hazardous waste, Inspection of hazardous waste , Carrying out Segregation, Recovery, Treatment, Storage and Disposal of hazardous waste residues including Incineration, Monitoring on-site including emergency preparedness, Reporting to regulatory authorities as needed, Public information/Display of information , Undertaking closure and post closure measures upon exhaustion of the site Capacity, Leachate management including collection, treatment and disposal of leachate using appropriate technology and Closure and post closure maintenance.

Common Hazardous Waste Treatment, Storage And Disposal Facility (CHWTSDF), Majra, Himachal Pradesh

UPL- EEL & BEIL along with its parent company United Phosphorus Limited have formed SPV viz., Shivalik Solid Waste Management Company Ltd., for the execution of the SWM project in the Northern region of the India.

This SPV has taken up the first project of CHWTSDF for the waste generated by the Baddi, Barotiwala, Nalagarh Industries Association (BBNIA) at Himachal Pradesh. The land area available for setting up this facility is approx 22 hectares with a storage capacity of 10,00,000 MT hazardous waste for the period of 20 years.

The project has been conceptually design for a secured Hazardous Waste Treatment, Storage and Disposal Facility (HWTSDF) at Village Majra for safe disposal of hazardous wastes generated by the approximate 503 Industries belongs to Textile sector, steel industries & pharmaceutical in Himachal Pradesh.

Project work is inclusive of Receiving and Transportation of hazardous waste , Inspection of hazardous waste, Carrying out Segregation, Recovery, Treatment, Storage and Disposal of hazardous waste residues including Incineration , Public information/Display of information , Undertaking closure and post closure measures upon exhaustion of the site Capacity, Leachate management including collection, treatment and disposal of leachate using appropriate technology & Closure and post closure.

Waste Management project for Kanpur Nagar Nigam (KNN), Uttar Pradesh.

UPL- EEL is executing project of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and instrumentation works for the Hazardous Waste Disposal Facility at Rooma for Kanpur Nagar Nigam UP.

Project is for the safe disposal of hazardous sludge containing chromium generated from 36 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Jajmau, Kanpur. The Scheme includes, includes grading of site, construction, supply , erection and commissioning of various civil, electrical and mechanical units; operation of sludge solidification & disposal system covering all material and equipments required and construction of final closure / capping system for landfill unit at the end of its life.

City Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) New Mumbai (for Municipal SWM at Taloja MIDC)

Project synopsis :

UPL- EEL in association with BEIL has executed the project of Development, Maintenance & Operation of Waste Processing by composting method & Disposal facility including operation & maintenance for a period of 3 years for CIDCO, at Chal near Taloja MIDC as per MSW (Management Handling) Rule 2000 on BOOT Basis

Silent feature for the composting operations , incoming waste mixed or segregated to weighed at weight bridge, Bio-degradable waste shall be shredded to the required size , bio-culture is applied at the specified rate, Moisture content shall be maintained as appropriate, windows are turned by window turning device throughout the composting period, rejects and residue of composting is being taken to landfill, established workshop with equipment, repairs & maintenance tools accessories, measuring and testing equipment has been organized , laboratory facility for testing raw waste & compost quality has been established, facilities has been provided to develop and operate landfill site for inert waste coming out of compost operation, landfill facilities has been develop and install composting plant for three years.

National Building Construction Corporation Limited (NBCC) (for Municipal SWM Project at Jodhpur, Rajasthan)

Project Synopsis :

UPLEEL in association with BEIL is executing the project of Solid Waste Management for Providing, Testing, Commissioning Of 100 TPD MSW Compost Plant and Vermi Composting, supply of all Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic Accessories etc., including the 5 years operation & maintenance of the same at Jodhpur on BOOT basis.

Method of composting : Windrow Technology and Vermiculture
Total Area for the Project : 48 acres

Landfill Closure of Gorai Dumping ground and its subsequent maintenance ,

UPL was awarded this project by Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai. The dumpsite is located in the western suburb of Mumbai and spread over an area of 19.6 hectares. the total quantity of MSW and C&D waste stored at the site at the end of June 2006 has been estimated to be 2.34 million tons.

The Work required at the Gorai dumpsite as part of the Gorai Project can be divided into two broad categories: (i) Works relating to the closure and capping of the Gorai dumpsite (hereinafter referred to as “Closure Works”; and (ii) Works relating to the operation and maintenance of the capped dumpsite for fifteen years from the date of Taking Over (hereinafter referred to as “Post-Closure Works”).

Coimbatore Municipal Corporation (CMC)

Project Awarded :

The project has been awarded to BEIL-UPL Joint venture and is presently under execution by a SPV formed by name Coimbatore Intergrated Waste management Company limited .
The Project scope mainly includes

Development, Design, Engineering, Finance, Construction, Implementation, Operation and Maintenance of (i) Transfer stations (ii) Transportation of MSW from Transfer station to waste processing & disposal site, (iii) Closure of existing dumpsites, (iv) Processing & Disposal facility of treating 400tons of waste generated from Coimbatore in the State of Tamilnadu on PPP Basis.

It is a BOOT basis project for the period of 20 years and has been approved under Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) scheme of the Govt. of India and is eligible for Grants from Central / State government upto 70% of the Detailed Project Report cost.
